Börje Salming
For us, it was a natural choice to design and produce this piece of jewelry.
ALS has affected us up close, when the father of one of our loved ones' children, Peter Ahlm, passed away from the disease in May 2022. We have seen with our own eyes what ALS does – not only to the person who gets sick, but to everyone around them, who is forced to stand next to the powerless and watch.
The powerlessness, sadness and frustration that comes from watching someone you love break down piece by piece is indescribable. It's like living a nightmare.
In addition to the brutality of the disease, there is also the fight against authorities and various agencies to ensure that the affected person receives the help they need. It is undignified. We could never have imagined that it would be like this in Sweden in 2022. Through our involvement in networks and groups for people with ALS and their relatives, we know today that this is unfortunately a reality for many.
It can't be like this. There has to be a change – now.
When it comes to ALS, there is no time to wait. If we can help create change in any way, then the choice is simple.
This piece of jewelry has therefore been created with a clear purpose: all surplus, after production costs, goes entirely to Börje Salming's ALS Foundation .
The choice of Börje's foundation was obviously also for personal reasons. We had the honor of getting to know Börje Salming a few years before he himself was affected by ALS. Seeing him and his relatives go through the same hell that our loved ones had just experienced was deeply painful.
There is much to say about this terrible disease, but we want to end by saying:
Rest in peace, Peter Ahlm and Börje Salming . 💔
This piece of jewelry was made in memory of you. It is dedicated to you. ❤️
“We have to stop this shit.”
